Jena Quinn, PharmD, BCPPS, began her career as a pediatric clinical pharmacist in acute care at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Cooper University Healthcare. It was during this time that she had a pivotal realization: pediatric pharmacists were only helping pediatric patients while they were in the hospital, leaving patients and their families without someone to manage complex medications. Witnessing the recycle of readmissions, prevalent medication errors in her patients, and in her own children, as a mother of three, Dr. Quinn was inspired to make a change.
In 2021, Dr. Quinn founded Perfecting Peds. She started by working one-on-one with families that were recently discharged from the hospital. After finding value in long-term medication optimization and management, Perfecting Peds began collaborating with pediatric long-term care facilities throughout New Jersey. Over the first two years, Dr. Quinn and her team focused on ensuring the best therapies were being utilized, reducing trips to the hospital and emergency department, optimizing medication regimens, and achieving cost efficiency in care. Their impactful work was published in the Journal of Pediatric Pharmacotherapy and Therapeutics in April 2024.
Today, Perfecting Peds brings the specialized expertise of pediatric pharmacists to high-risk children, across all care settings, through health insurance plans and private pay.
