One of the most important things anyone can do in their profession is to advocate legislatively. Perfecting Peds is proud to announce that we currently have two bills sponsored in the New Jersey Senate!!!
One bill will mandate pediatric weights on prescriptions- an issue that has been extremely important for Perfecting Peds. A large majority of medications are dosed by weight for kiddos. Without this crucial piece of knowledge, how will pharmacists in the outpatient setting make sure that medications are dosed correctly?
The second bill will mandate comprehensive medication management for all medically complex children. Did you know that for the elderly, it is a standard of care to have a pharmacist review and follow up with medications? It should be the same for medically complex kids as well!
